From the Daily Wire:
“Remember when those crazy conservatives warned that redefining marriage under the mantra of “love is love” would result in some very unwelcome consequences? Well, a mother in New Mexico is currently fighting the courts and public opinion to have sex with her own teenage son.
Monica Mares reunited with her son Caleb Peterson 18 years after giving him up for adoption, and just weeks later, the duo claimed to be “madly in love.” Since incest is a fourth degree felony in New Mexico — and illegal in all 50 states — the couple faces trial in September after being charged with the indiscretion on February 25. If convicted, Mares and Peterson could each face 18 months in the slammer.
Mares, 36, and Peterson, 19, are not only fighting for their “love” in court, but asking the public to help fund their fight for mothers to sleep with their sons all around the country. The couple told The Daily Mail that they went public in an effort to raise awareness for Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) relationships.
Mares gave birth to Peterson when she was just 16 years old. He was adopted by a Texas couple following his birth.
Peterson met his biological mother for the first time in 18 years last December, after the two made contact via Facebook. According to The Daily Mail, the mother and son “couple” quickly “developed romantic feelings for each other.” A few weeks later, Peterson and Mares were engaged in a sexual relationship.
The so-called “romantic” relationship is, of course, fueled by manipulation and conflated feelings between maternal niceties and romantic love.
“I never had anyone cook me meals or give me anything,” said the 19-year-old. “I never got anything my entire life and she went out of her way to make me happy and after about a week or so I started having feelings for her and I guess I fell in love.”
Uncovering more probable manipulation on the part of Mommy Dearest, Peterson explained that in “certain aspects” he views Mares as his “mom,” though he doesn’t in most others.
Still, Peterson maintains that their relationship is not only consensual, but that he made the “first move.”
“We were hanging out just talking and I looked at her and she looked at me and I kissed her,” he said. “It was a real kiss it had feelings behind it, there was a spark that ever since then it just stayed.”
“Honestly I never thought we would get into trouble for our relationship. We were both consenting adults – when it comes down to it,” he continued.
“She’s adult I’m adult, I can make my own decisions. I never thought it would blow up into something like this,” added the teenager.
Mares, a mother of eight other children she’s currently not sleeping with, is so dedicated to being with Peterson romantically that she said she’d leave her other children to be with him.
“But if I had to choose between my son and all my other kids, I’d chose him,” she said.
Mother of the year?
Meanwhile, Peterson admits that “sometimes he wonders if he should have done things differently — if only to spare his family the pain,” notes The Daily Mail.
Proponents of the “love is love” edict are now coming out swinging for mommy and son to continue their love affair.
“My point of view is they need to be allowed to live just how they are, that’s what America is built on,” said Dayton Chavez, Mares ex-husband.
Cristina Shy, a leader of a support and advocacy site for incestuous relationships (yes, that’s a real thing), has also stepped in to support Mares and Peterson, citing the same-sex marriage Supreme Court ruling as grounds for legalizing incest.
Their case “needs to be brought to the attention of everybody in the country and people need to start thinking differently,” explained Shy.
“It was the same with gay people just a few years ago and now they can get married, they are accepted,” she continued.
“Well why not consanguinamorous people [related couples] like us? We are all adults. We are not pedophiles, there’s no domestic issue we are in love, we want to be together but we are related. That shouldn’t be a deciding factor,” she added.
“Cristina is hoping to raise enough money to get a high profile attorney to defend the case and says the couple is willing to fight all the way to the US Supreme Court,” notes The Daily Mail.
“This case could set precedent and change laws throughout the United States,” said Shy.
Peterson echoed the same “love is love” sentiment: “This whole case is about whether I have the right to love somebody and I sure as hell have the right to love Monica,” he said. “You can’t tell me who to love, who not to love.”
There you have it: Love is love, so let mommy sleep with her teenage son and stop judging, you haters.”
